This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

update: Please email the Recreation Dept. at Recreation@HopkintonRec.com if you are interested in a future info session!

Looking to learn Pickleball or already know how and want to use the Pickleball courts at George Park? The Rec Dept. is offering a Recreational program that includes all skill levels.  Read below for all the details!

The Recreation Dept. will offer a "self-led" Pickleball program this October (Mondays - Saturdays, October 1-31 from 10 AM-noon) for all those who wish to have access to the portable Pickleball nets and take advantage of the reserved Pickleball times on the tennis courts at George Park (the Town Park next to HMHS).  Those who sign up for the program will have access to the equipment and can play during the designated Pickleball times or at other times as first come, first served as long as that time does not interfere with HYSA's designated tennis program times (Sundays September 11- October 30 from 12-2 PM).

How to join the Recreation Department Pickleball program:
1. Those 18+ are welcome to register below, agree to the standard waiver and pay the $25 registration fee to attend the info session.  The $25 registration fee is the fee to cover the one-time required info session, access to the Team Reach App and use of the Town Pickleball equipment. Once you take the info session, you will not be required to take another info session in the future.  There is no fee for the October "self-led" program.  The $25 registration fee will be used for the purchase of the shared Pickleball equipment.

2.  Each person registered MUST attend at least one of the info sessions that will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 10 AM-noon or Wednesday, September 28 from 4-6 PM in order to be included in the October self-led program, access the Team Reach App and use of the Town equipment. This info session is held at the tennid courts at George Park. Once you register and attend your first info session, you can attend future self-led programs without registering or having to attend another info session.  Even if you have played Pickleball before, you still have to attend the one-time info session.

3. Once the info session is complete, each person will be given access to the Team Reach App so they can manage play times with other program members.

4.  Each person will be given access to the portable nets, extra paddles and balls after completing the info session.  Each person can use the equipment during the designated program times Monday-Saturdays 10 AM-noon in October or as first come, first served at other times as long as they don't interfere with HYSA tennis.

What to expect at the Info Session at the tennis courts at George Park:
You must attend at least 1 of the info sessions on Tuesday, September 27 from 10 AM-noon or Wednesday, September 28 from 4-6 PM at the tennis courts at George Park. Our Pickleball instructor will go over the game and how to play, the proper way to setup and store the nets, setup the Team Reach App, and answer any questions you may have.

Can't make one of these info sessions? No worries!  We will plan to hold another info session at a later date.  One does, however, need to attend an info session before they can have access to the shared equipment and Team Reach App.

Everyone should bring their Pickleball paddle (a few will be available to borrow if you do not have one).  Wear athletic shoes and bring water.

After Attending the Info Session:
Feel free to play Pickleball during the designated Pickleball times or as first come, first served at the courts (except during HYSA tennis time).  Use the Team Reach App if you wish to contact others in the program and meet to play!

Can't make the Info Session or want to play without joining the program:  Hopkinton residents are welcome to use these courts at any time as first come, first served but will need to bring their own portable net, rackets and balls.  Do keep in mind that if you are not part of the Rec Dept. Pickleball program, you will not be able to use the courts during the Rec Dept. Pickleball program times (October 1-31, Monday-Saturday 10 AM-noon) or during HYSA reserved tennis times (Sundays September 11- October 30 from 12-2 PM).
